Northland is a Milton & King Studio collection inspired by untamed northern landscapes, where mountains, forests and waterways are shaped by wind, weather and time. Across wallcoverings, expressive mark-making meets heritage pattern, moving from abstract terrain and organic forms to checks, tartans and structured motifs.
Hand-painted and hand-drawn throughout, each design reveals the hand behind it, giving walls a tactile, artistic presence. A palette of walnut, ochre, olive, clay, stone and deep charcoal brings warmth and mineral depth, while monochrome colour stories offer a more restrained expression.
Large-scale repeats create impact, smaller patterns introduce rhythm and generous open space allows each design to breathe. Available on non-woven, with selected colourways also offered in grasscloth, metallic, decorative textile and vinyl, Northland invites you to create interiors that feel rugged, refined and connected to the natural world.
Northland draws from the elemental character of remote landscapes and the enduring craft traditions shaped within them. Windswept ridgelines, changing rivers, alpine forests and stone waymarkers become the starting point for a collection that moves between abstraction and familiar pattern.
Oil stick, gouache, lino printing and expressive brushwork give each design its own handcrafted character, while references to woven willow, mountain textiles and tartan bring a sense of history. The result is a collection where nature and craft meet, translating the wild into patterns with structure, texture and lasting presence.
From the drift of air to the force of water, Northland studies the natural movements that shape a landscape. Zephyr captures light and atmosphere through expansive painterly forms, while Oxbow and Cascade follow the shifting rhythm of rivers.
Alpine distils ridgelines and forests into abstract marks, creating a visual language that feels broad, open and elemental. These designs bring movement to the wall while preserving the stillness found in remote places.
Northland also looks to the objects and textiles made for life in rugged places. Osier reimagines basket weave through Bauhaus influence, Cairn draws on hand-built stone markers and Timber and Highland revisit the familiar structure of checks and tartans.
