Far Horizons is a collection of painterly wallcoverings by Western Australian artist Desmond Sweeney, created in collaboration with Milton & King. Drawn from original landscapes and seascapes, the collection captures the natural world through movement, atmosphere and the changing quality of light.
Across sweeping ocean scenes, distant Australian ridgelines, wooded valleys and softened coastlines, Desmond’s expressive brushwork remains visible, giving each design the presence of an original painting translated for the wall.
Swell, Great Divide, Valewood and Longshore each offer a different view of the horizon, moving between expansive scenery and more abstract interpretations of land and water. Natural grasscloth adds texture and variation, while coordinating surfaces extend the palette beyond the mural itself.
Far Horizons brings art, material and landscape together across residential, hospitality and commercial interiors.
Far Horizons begins with Desmond Sweeney’s relationship with the Australian landscape and the atmosphere he finds within it. These familiar environments become studies in colour, light and distance, translated through a painter’s eye rather than recorded as literal views.
Working from original paintings, Desmond builds each scene through expressive brushwork and softened transitions, allowing marks, tonal shifts and the movement of paint to remain visible. His background in scenic art and large-scale mural work gives the collection a natural connection to architecture, with each composition created to hold presence across an entire wall.

Desmond’s landscapes are shaped through paint, gesture and observation. Broad brushstrokes describe moving water, foliage and distant terrain, while softened edges allow one form to move naturally into the next. Swell captures the force of the sea, Great Divide looks across open Australian country, Valewood moves into wooded terrain and Longshore reduces the coast to atmosphere, colour and light.

Far Horizons extends beyond the scenic mural through coordinating grasscloths and textured commercial vinyls informed by the colours within Desmond’s original paintings. Tones of dune, limestone, eucalyptus, Atlantic and gloaming allow the palette to continue across adjoining walls and wider schemes. This gives designers the freedom to connect artwork, texture and colour throughout residential, hospitality and commercial interiors without competing with the murals themselves.
Far Horizons brings Desmond Sweeney’s original landscapes into interiors across non-woven wallpaper, natural grasscloth and trade-only commercial vinyl. Scenic murals create expansive moments across residential and hospitality spaces, while coordinating grasscloth and textured vinyl surfaces allow the collection’s palette to continue throughout larger schemes.
Each ground brings a different character to the artwork, from the clarity of non-woven to the organic variation of grasscloth and the durability of commercial vinyl, giving homeowners and design professionals the flexibility to choose the right surface for each space.
